The spider is press fit between the jaws, ensuring zero backlash operation while dampening shock to the connected components. The spiders are available in two durometers to meet various application needs. The softer spider (92 Shore A) has the greatest dampening, while the harder spider (98 Shore A) provides the greatest strength and torsional rigidity. Features: Dampens shock and vibration Two spider materials available: soft and hard Electrically isolating Balanced design for high speeds up to 8,000 rpm Complies with RoHS restrictions on the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment Applications: To make a complete coupling: choose two hubs and one spider with the same O.D. The torque disc is available in a choice of acetal for high torsional stiffness and nylon for vibration and shock dampening. The center element fits over drive tenons on the hubs with a press fit to ensure zero backlash operation (with an acetal disc). In operation, the disc slides over the tenons to accommodate misalignment. In the event of over-torquing, the disc will break cleanly, stopping all power transmission. This makes this coupling suitable for use as a mechanical fuse. The disc is easily replaceable and will restore the coupling to its original performance. This type of coupling is especially good at handling parallel misalignment. Features: Useful as a mechanical fuse Two material choices for replacement discs Electrically isolating Balanced design for higher speeds up to 4,500 rpm Zero backlash (acetal disc only) Anodized aluminum hubs Temperature Range: -10 F to 150 F (Acetal); -10 F to 130 F (Nylon) More sizes available Complies with RoHS restrictions on the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment Applications: Two hubs and one torque disc with the same O.D. make a complete coupling Torque Disc O.D.
