Hydraulic Accessories The accessories listed are available to customize standard power units or upgrade an existing system. Gauges and flow meters are ideal for setting and troubleshooting a system, providing indication of system pressure and flow. Coolers are used to remove heat generated in a hydraulic system. Heat is generated in a system due to inefficiencies in the components and from excess horsepower not being used to create work. An air over oil cooler utilizes a fan to blow air across a series of tubes filled with hot oil returning to the reservoir. Water over oil coolers use a series of tubes submerged in the water flow to transfer the heat. A standard system will require about 25% of the input horsepower to be removed while an inefficient system could require 75% to 100% of input horsepower. Please refer to the fluid power formulas in the technical section for guidance. Accumulators can serve three basic functions in a system. In systems with long idle times, an accumulator can be installed to provide supplemental flow. This will allow the system to use a smaller pump and motor. Smaller accumulators are often installed in a system to smooth out ripples or pressure fluctuations due to pump pulsations and reduce the effects of system shocks. Accumulators need to be charged with dry nitrogen prior to use. Pump to Motor adapters are machined to mount a hydraulic pump to an electric motor with a C-face construction. To properly select the correct adapter, match the pump mount, motor frame and shaft lengths. Additional length may also be required to allow for the coupling insert length and gap between shafts. Flexible couplings join pump shafts to motor shafts. Due to their three-piece construction, minor angular and lateral misalignment of the two shafts can be accepted. Selection of the size should be based on the maximum horsepower they can transmit. Foot brackets are used to mount a pump or motor to a piece of equipment. Machined to proper tolerances, foot brackets aid in the alignment of pump or motor shafts.
