The EPA uses rigorous criteria to ensure that DfE labeled products are safer for human health and the environment. EPA's ETV Program The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Environmental Technology Verification (ETV) program develops test protocols and verifies the performance of innovative technologies that have the potential to improve protection of human health and the environment. The ETV name and/or logo does not imply approval or certification of a product, nor does it make any explicit or implied warrantees or guarantees as to performance. Information on performance characteristics can be found at EcoLogo Certified This product has been certified by EcoLogo , a third party auditor, as an environmentally preferred product or service. Energy Reduction Item reduces energy costs and uses less energy than competing products with the same function and purpose, based on information provided by the manufacturer. ENERGY STAR Products that earn the ENERGY STAR prevent greenhouse gas emissions by meeting strict energy efficiency guidelines set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy. Visit for more information. FEMP Item meets Federal Requirements for the Procurement of Energy-Efficient Products (FEMP). FEMP-designated products are in the upper 25% of their class in energy efficiency. Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Certification A forest conservation system that uses third-party experts to verify forest management practices and track materials as they leave the forest and become products downstream. Green Seal Certified The product has been certified to meet or exceed voluntary standards for environmental preferability as established by Green Seal. Green Seal Certification indicates that the product has gone through a stringent process to show that it has less impact on the environment and human health. LADCO Compliant Complies with VOC regulations as detailed by the Lake Michigan Air Directors Consortium (LADCO). LADCO members include Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin and Ohio. NEMA Premium Meets NEMA (National Electrical Manufacturers Association) Premium efficiency standards for electric motors. Motors with the NEMA Premium label help purchasers optimize motor systems efficiency and reduce electrical power consumption and costs. NESHAP Compliant Complies with compound and hazardous air pollutant emissions limits as established by National Emissions Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutant (NESHAP) Regulation, 40th Code of Federal Regulation, Part 63. Non-toxic The "non-toxic" claim implies that a product, substance or chemical will not cause adverse health effects, either immediately or over the long-term, based on information provided by the manufacturer.
